In this post, I promised a song for the Three Weeks. Since you probably won’t be playing it during the Three Weeks, I have it for you a bit ahead. 🙂
The Ahavas Yisroel Song, also known by the first line of the song, “I am an Ancient Wall of Stone”, was written and composed by Abie Rotenberg. It first appeared on The Marvelous Middos Machine, Vol. 3, and was later sung by Yeedle Werdyger on his first album, Together.
The song describes how the Beis Hamikdash was destroyed because of sin’as chinam (baseless hatred). The Beis Hamikdash cannot be rebuilt as long as “sin’as chinam still lives on, it lingers in your heart . . . “. In order to achieve the redemption, “we must stand together, forever as one”.
So there you have it, a song for the Three Weeks!
